A new strategic dimension in virology and bacteriology to enhance the safety of biological products and samples
WOIPPY, FRANCE, September 10, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — ABL Diagnostics (Euronext Paris – ISIN: FR001400AHX6), a specialist in molecular diagnostics and infectious diseases, announces the strengthening of its technology and intellectual property portfolio following the acquisition of TEXCELL’s activities and assets.
This transaction brings ABL Diagnostics new strategic expertise in viral safety, complementing its longstanding molecular diagnostics activities. The Group is thus expanding its offering with new products, technologies and services in virology and bacteriology, particularly aimed at ensuring the safety and characterization of samples, sample preparations and biological products.
From pathogen detection to viral safety:
Among the acquired assets is a patented technology arising from patent application EP 10306347.5, dedicated to the quantification of infectious viruses using reference infectious standards. The technology enables the quantitative assessment of viral infectivity through host-cell response and offers potential for automation and high-throughput processing.
This technology adds a further dimension to ABL Diagnostics’ capabilities in the detection, identification and molecular characterization of infectious agents: the ability to assess and manage viral risk.
“By combining the expertise of ABL Diagnostics and TEXCELL, we can now address a much broader value chain, ranging from ensuring the safety of samples and biological products to the molecular detection and characterization of pathogens. This complementarity opens up numerous opportunities with laboratories, biotechnology companies and the pharmaceutical industry.”
Mohammed Errafyqy, Sales Manager, TEXCELL
Strengthened positioning in a strategic global market:
Viral safety is a major challenge for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, particularly in the development and production of vaccines, biological medicines, viral vectors, and cell and gene therapies. The expansion of these markets, combined with increasingly stringent quality and biosafety requirements, is driving growing demand for solutions to characterize, quantify, eliminate and inactivate infectious agents.
With TEXCELL, ABL Diagnostics is therefore complementing its longstanding positioning in molecular diagnostics and infectious diseases with additional expertise in viral safety, virology and bacteriology, creating new opportunities for products, services and technological developments for laboratories and the biopharmaceutical industry.
“This acquisition significantly expands ABL Diagnostics’ technological scope. Our expertise in molecular diagnostics for infectious diseases is now complemented by strong capabilities in viral safety. We therefore have a particularly complementary set of expertise enabling us not only to detect and characterize infectious agents, but also to help ensure the safety of biological products.”
Dr. Chalom Sayada, Chief Executive Officer of ABL Diagnostics
