VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Sept. 01, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Indrocorp Technologies Inc. as (“INDROTEK”) today announced that InDro Robotics, its engineering division, which is focused on autonomous systems, robotics, drones and related technologies, has been selected as a qualified supplier under the Government of Canada’s Defence Drone Initiative (DDI) Marketplace.
The qualification was awarded by the Government of Canada through the Department of National Defence (DND) and Defence Investment Agency (DIA) under the DDI Marketplace competitive Request for Supply Arrangement (RFSA).
DDI establishes a new procurement pathway for Canadian autonomous systems
The Defence Drone Initiative was launched by the Government of Canada on July 23, 2026, to accelerate the development, testing, adaptation and production of uncrewed and autonomous systems for the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and Canadian Coast Guard (CCG). The initiative is being led collaboratively by DND and the DIA and is intended to connect Canadian technology companies with operational requirements through a more agile procurement framework.
The DDI Marketplace is structured as a pre-qualified supplier pool, rather than a single procurement program or purchase order. Qualified companies may subsequently compete for opportunities involving research, prototype development, testing, demonstrations, limited acquisitions and, where requirements are met, potential production. The Government expressly states that qualification under the RFSA does not guarantee a contract.
Six initial capability priorities
The Government has identified six initial areas for DDI industry engagement and capability development.
- Tactical ISR drones, which means low-cost uncrewed systems for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.
- Uncrewed ground vehicles, which entail robotic systems supporting logistics, difficult or dangerous terrain, casualty support and communications relay.
- Uncrewed maritime systems, which are surface and underwater systems supporting maritime awareness, surveying, Arctic and coastal surveillance and related missions.
- Standardized drone munitions and explosive payloads, which are standardized payloads, interfaces and safety systems for military uncrewed platforms.
- Low-cost, low-collateral counter-drone systems, which refer to technologies intended to detect, track or defeat hostile drones.
- Deep precision strike systems, which involve technologies that could contribute to a sovereign Canadian long-range precision capability, subject to further technical, operational, policy, legal, safety and security considerations.
The breadth of these priorities is strategically relevant to InDro Robotics because the DDI is not limited to a single aircraft platform. It encompasses autonomous systems, robotics, sensing, communications, integration, experimentation and other enabling technologies.
Positioning InDro within Canada’s emerging sovereign defence ecosystem
InDro Robotics has developed technologies and capabilities spanning aerial and ground robotics, autonomous control, machine vision, systems integration and field testing. Its InDro Cortex technology, for example, is designed to provide autonomous and remotely operated capabilities across aerial and ground platforms. InDro has also been developing long-range and ruggedized autonomous platforms intended for challenging environments and dual-use applications.

Qualification is not a contract or revenue award
INDROTEK emphasizes that InDro Robotics’ DDI qualification should not be interpreted as the award of a defence procurement contract or as an indication of committed future revenue.
