College of Science and Technology (CST), Royal University of Bhutan selects CIR to teach advanced PV modeling in STAR-C Bhutan’s first Level 2 program

BURLINGTON, VT, UNITED STATES, August 19, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Cleantech Industry Resources (CIR), the world’s only commoditized Development-as-a-Service (DaaS) platform for clean energy, was selected by the College of Science and Technology (CST), Royal University of Bhutan under the STAR-C initiative of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) to lead a three-day PVsyst training workshop.

CIR was selected for the depth of its in-house PV engineering across global projects. CIR engineers model and stress-test solar and storage projects across global markets every day. With that same rigor in the classroom, CIR is training Bhutan’s future clean energy professionals with the discipline needed for real-world applications. The session gives 22 engineers and energy professionals hands-on training in PVsyst modeling, energy yield simulation, system optimization, and techno-economic assessment for commercial and utility-scale projects.

The training comes as Bhutan advances its ambition to achieve 5,000 MW of solar capacity by 2040. With the commissioning of the Sephu Solar Plant, Bhutan’s first utility-scale grid-connected solar PV facility, and a growing pipeline of solar projects, the need for skilled solar professionals is increasing. The PVsyst Training Program is more than a technical training initiative. It represents an important step towards building the skills, expertise, and institutional capacity required to support Bhutan’s clean energy transition and realize its long-term solar ambitions.

“The goal isn’t just to teach PVsyst. It’s to help participants understand the engineering behind the model and apply the results to real project decisions,” said Kruti Jani, Design Engineer at CIR. “As Bhutan’s solar sector grows, that practical capability is what gets projects built.”

The program represents STAR-C Bhutan’s first Level 2 professional training program, following seven Level 1 Technician training batches that have trained 138 participants. Advancing to Level 2 required instructors with production-grade modeling experience and a curriculum that combines technical learning with hands-on application, covering PVsyst inputs, shading and loss analysis, energy yield assessment, optimization, PV + BESS modeling, and the application of simulation outputs to feasibility and technical due diligence.

STAR-C at CST continues to strengthen its role as a platform for solar training, technical learning, knowledge exchange, and capacity development in Bhutan. The current program marks an important progression in STAR-C’s training pathway, moving from foundational technician-level training towards advanced professional-level capacity building.

The inaugural session was attended by Ms. Sucheta Chatterjee, Consul General of India, Phuentsholing, as the Chief Guest, and attended by CST leadership, representatives from ISA, the STAR-C Bhutan team, faculty members, and participating engineers.

“The energy transition is constrained by engineering capacity, not ambition. Building the workforce matters as much as building the projects,” said Daniel Dus, CEO of Cleantech Industry Resources. “ISA selected CIR to teach this program because of how our engineers work, and that is exactly the standard we want in the hands of the professionals who will develop Bhutan’s solar sector.”

The modeling, technical assessment, and development discipline CIR applies across its global project portfolio is exactly what its engineers teach. For more information about Cleantech Industry Resources, visit www.cleantechir.com.
