ANAHEIM , CA, UNITED STATES, August 19, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — NMAC is honored to announce that Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi will serve as the closing plenary speaker at the 2026 United States Conference on HIV/AIDS (USCHA), taking place September 16-19 in Anaheim, California.
For nearly four decades, Speaker Emerita Pelosi has been a steadfast champion of people living with HIV and the broader HIV movement. Her leadership has helped advance the Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS Program, expand Medicaid, strengthen the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program, and support the AIDS Memorial Quilt and National AIDS Memorial Grove.
During her tenure in Congress, including her historic service as the first woman Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Speaker Emerita Pelosi helped protect and expand U.S. investments in the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the Global Fund. She also played a pivotal role in passage of the Affordable Care Act, which expanded access to health care and ended discrimination against people with pre-existing conditions, including people living with HIV.
“Speaker Emerita Pelosi’s leadership is woven into the history of the HIV movement,” said Harold Phillips, CEO of NMAC. “We are grateful to welcome her to the USCHA stage as we honor the progress of the past 45 years and recommit ourselves to the work still ahead.”
The conference will officially open on Thursday, September 17, with a plenary centered on art, reflection, and leadership across the HIV movement. Opening participants will include Harold Phillips; professional dancer and creative collaborator Jelani Adams Garçon; and the Rt. Rev. Antonio José Gallardo Lucena, Eighth Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles.
USCHA will begin with a Welcome Reception on Wednesday, September 16, with world-renowned DJ Jash Jay curating the vibe. The evening will feature a performance by Miss Shalae, an artist, fashion designer, international Beyoncé tribute performer, and ballroom community icon. Attendees are encouraged to wear all-white attire.
The 2026 conference will also feature workshops, institutes, and iPoster sessions designed to strengthen skills, share emerging research, and support the work of researchers, clinicians, advocates, and community leaders.
Additional speakers, performers, and programming will be announced in the weeks ahead.
Registration and conference updates are available through the official 2026 USCHA webpage.
