Overall product satisfaction with windows and patio doors remains stable in 2026, but customer satisfaction with retailers declines notably, according to the JD Power 2026 U.S. Windows and Patio Doors Satisfaction Study,SM released today. The overall average price paid rises by $147 year over year to $5,805 in 2026, while perceptions of value for the price paid decreases 8 points for products and 19 points for retailers on a 1,000-point scale. In contrast, customer satisfaction with product durability increases 8 points, the largest year-over-year gain among study dimensions.
“Customers are clearly recognizing improvements in the durability of their windows and patio doors, which is a positive sign for manufacturers,” said Denese Waiters, senior director of customer experience intelligence at JD Power. “However, the data highlights a growing disconnect between what customers are paying and the value they believe they are receiving, particularly during the retail experience. Emphasizing the long-term benefits of new windows and patio doors, including increased resale value and enhanced curb appeal, can help strengthen perceived value and better align customer expectations with their investment.”
Study Rankings
Renewal by Andersen ranks highest in the manufacturer segment for a seventh consecutive year with a score of 755. American Craftsman (736) ranks second while Andersen and Marvin (727) rank third in a tie.
Renewal by Andersen ranks highest among retailers with a score of 759. Pella (739) ranks second.
