TORONTO, Nov. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Teneo, the global CEO advisory firm, today announced the expansion of its Financial Advisory business into Canada with the appointment of Phil Reynolds as Senior Managing Director and Head of Financial Advisory in Canada.
This is an important expansion of Teneo’s operations in Canada, which today includes 60 professionals working across offices in Toronto, Montreal and Calgary.
Teneo expects to make several additional hires in Canada in the coming months as it builds out its Financial Advisory team and capabilities in the country.
Phil Reynolds is a market-leading restructuring, insolvency, turnaround and business formation practitioner, with especially significant experience in the manufacturing, financial, aviation, mining, manufacturing, forestry, and pulp and paper sectors.
Before joining Teneo, Phil was the National Practice Leader of the restructuring and insolvency practice at Deloitte. During this time, Phil was also the Lead Partner for the Americas region for restructuring and insolvency. Over the course of his career, Phil has led numerous large, high-profile restructuring engagements ranging from strategic Board advisory to formal insolvency proceedings. He has led cases involving large public companies with global operations and is an expert in business assessments and providing strategic turnaround and distressed advice. Phil also advises a range of financial stakeholders on distressed debt refinancings, debt reorganizations, work outs, acquisitions and divestitures.
Phil has acted as a senior advisor to Canada’s leading financial institution regulators. He has led numerous bank assessments, including liquidity analysis and horizon scenarios, liquidation valuations, resolution and recovery analyses, Board and management assessments, ongoing operational and liquidity monitoring, governance and control reviews. He has advised financial institution regulators on situations where financial institutions have experienced distress and has advised certain regulators on resolution policy and strategy. Phil also has experience advising on shareholder disputes, including acting as Court-appointed Monitor or Receiver in certain cases.
“Canada is an important market for Teneo and a natural next step in the continued growth of our Financial Advisory business,” said Daniel Butters, CEO of Teneo’s Financial Advisory business. “Phil brings exceptional experience advising companies, boards and financial stakeholders through complex situations, and his leadership provides a strong foundation as we build our capabilities in the market. We are very pleased to welcome him to Teneo and look forward to growing a leading Financial Advisory team in Canada.”
“I am very excited to join the team at Teneo and use my varied experience across Canada to support Teneo’s ongoing expansion across the country,” said Phil Reynolds. “I look forward to working with all my new colleagues across the firm as we guide our clients through a very challenging business environment.”
“We are delighted to welcome Phil to Teneo and to launch our Financial Advisory business in Canada,” said James Crossland, Global Vice-Chairman of Teneo. “There are significant synergies between Financial Advisory and our established Strategy & Communications business, and Phil’s deep relationships and experience create exciting opportunities for us to work together to support clients in an increasingly complex environment.
