Inaugural awards program recognizes corporate legal teams for legal excellence, business leadership, and community impact; nominations open through November 20

ARLINGTON, Va., Oct. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Bloomberg Law has announced Inside In-House: Legal Departments of the Year, a new awards program recognizing corporate legal departments whose work advances their organizations’ business objectives, shapes their industries, and serves their communities. Nominations for the inaugural program are open through November 20, 2026.

“Behind companies’ most consequential decisions are legal teams helping leaders weigh risks, guide innovation, solve problems, and pursue new opportunities,” said Lisa Helem, executive editor, Bloomberg Industry Group. “Inside In-House: Legal Departments of the Year will recognize teams excelling in that work and examine the strategic, collaborative approaches behind their accomplishments. In so doing, we aim to offer insights for legal departments across the profession.”

Bloomberg Law editors will select honorees in three categories:

• Overall Excellence: Recognizing departments that demonstrate excellence across significant legal matters, strategic business leadership, innovation, and professional and community engagement. Eligible departments must have at least four full-time in-house attorneys.
• Pro Bono: Recognizing departments whose sustained pro bono work produces meaningful community impact. This category is open to legal departments of any size.
• Lean Leadership: Recognizing departments of one to three full-time in-house attorneys at organizations with 100 or fewer employees that deliver significant results with a small team.

Eligible legal departments must be part of a business headquartered or maintaining significant operations in the United States. Departments located abroad within a U.S.-based parent company may also apply.

Nominations may be submitted by legal departments, in collaboration with their communications or executive leadership teams, or by outside counsel and nonprofit organizations that work closely with those legal departments.
