The series takes a closer look at public fascination surrounding near-death experiences and stories of people who claim to have glimpsed what lies beyond this life. It also returns to what Scripture teaches about death, Heaven, eternity, and the hope found in Jesus Christ. Led by Senior Pastor Josh Nelson, The Station Church is a non-denominational Christian church known for its welcoming atmosphere, passionate worship, practical biblical teaching, and heart for North County San Diego.
“We’ve always wanted The Station to be a church where you don’t have to have everything figured out before you walk through the doors,” said Nelson. “You can come as you are, ask real questions, meet some great people, and discover for yourself who Jesus is and what the Bible actually says.”
That approach extends beyond Sunday mornings. Over the years, The Station has found creative ways to bring church into the community, including sunset beach services along the Carlsbad coastline that bring together church members, local families, neighbors, and people who may have never attended a traditional church service.
The church also invests in local outreach and ministries designed to serve individuals and families throughout North County.
Currently, The Station Church is tackling one of humanity’s oldest and biggest questions in a new teaching series called “After This.”
What happens after we die?
With public fascination surrounding near-death experiences and stories of people who claim to have glimpsed what lies beyond this life, After This takes a closer look at those questions while returning to what Scripture actually teaches about death, Heaven, eternity, and the hope found in Jesus Christ.
“Almost everybody wonders about what happens after this life,” Nelson said. “There are incredible stories out there, and some fascinating research, but ultimately we want to ask: What does the Bible say? What did Jesus say? And if eternity is real, what does that mean for the way we live right now?”
For The Station Church, those kinds of questions are exactly why the church exists, not simply to hold services, but to create a place where people can encounter Jesus, find community, grow in their faith, and discover purpose.
As North County continues to grow and change, The Station Church hopes to remain a place where timeless biblical truth meets real life and where people from every background can find faith, family, and hope for the future.
A Church Built Around Connection
That desire to create a place of faith, family and hope has been part of The Station Church’s mission in Carlsbad since 2012.
The church describes that mission in simple but meaningful terms: helping people connect to Jesus, discover their God-given purpose and build relationships with other life-giving people.
Behind those words is something deeply human. People arrive at church carrying different stories. Some walk through the doors with a strong faith. Others may be returning after years away. Some are raising families and looking for a spiritual home. Others may be going through a difficult season, searching for answers or simply hoping to find people with whom they can belong.
The Station seeks to make room for all of them.

The church works with community and charitable organizations serving people locally and around the world, including Fill A Belly, Foster the City, Convoy of Hope, Got Your Back San Diego, Children’s Cup, World Vision and Firm Israel.
Through its ministry efforts, The Station reports providing approximately 800 meals for children each month.
The church also reports 174 decisions for Jesus during 2025 and 1,770 decisions for Jesus between 2012 and 2025.
While numbers can provide a picture of a church’s reach, they cannot fully capture the individual stories behind them.
Every meal represents a child being cared for. Every person who walks through the doors carries a story. Every decision of faith represents someone taking what may be one of the most significant steps of their life.
