The update adds something no furniture store’s app offers: realistic 3D furniture that users size to the exact piece they’re considering (from any store, any carpenter, or any secondhand listing) and preview in their real room, in live augmented reality.

Until now, previewing furniture on a phone came in two flavors. Store catalog apps from retailers show their own products at their own fixed sizes. Measuring apps let users check dimensions as floating lines. Measure Tools fills the space between, by letting you place realistic furniture at the exact dimensions you set, in live AR, in your real room.

Users draw a piece directly into their room with three taps: two to form its base on the floor, then raise the phone and tap to set its height. Then fine-tune the size with sliders and walk around the result. A fit-check box placed with the app’s classic 3D Box Preview can be transformed into a realistic sofa, bed or wardrobe with one tap, keeping its exact size and position. The library spans 31 adjustable furniture types across five categories (sofas, seating, tables, beds, storage), each dressed from 37 material finishes: ten woods, seven fabrics, five leathers, five metals, ten stones, plus free color choice, applied through ready-made or user-built material sets.
