Fully human synthetic single-domain library expands Mosaic’s VHH discovery capabilities alongside its in vivo partnership with Abkyu
BOULDER, CO, UNITED STATES, September 8, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Mosaic Biosciences, a biologics discovery CRO focused on antibody and protein engineering, today announced the launch of Tessaic(TM) Nano, a fully human synthetic in vitro VHH library designed to accelerate nanobody discovery for clients across therapeutic, diagnostic, and research applications.
Tessaic Nano is the first library released under Mosaic’s Tessaic antibody library system, which also includes Tessaic Fab, a set of curated Fab-format libraries, near launch. The Nano library gives clients a fast, fully in-house route to single-domain candidates, requiring no humanization and no camelid immunization step.
“Clients are increasingly running in vitro and in vivo VHH discovery in parallel to de-risk timelines and compare candidate profiles,” said Tracey Mullen, Chief Strategy Officer at Mosaic Biosciences. “Tessaic Nano gives us a rapid, fully human option built entirely in-house, and it complements the work we do with Abkyu on the in vivo side. Because Tessaic Nano is a fully human synthetic library, candidates emerge without the humanization step required for camelid-derived VHHs, shortening development timelines for programs headed toward the clinic.
Along with donor derived CDRH3 diversity, Tessaic Nano incorporates curated diversity across CDRH1 and CDRH2, informed by internal repertoire analysis of which diversity placements have produced the strongest hit rates. Diversity is sourced from immune material captured and processed entirely in-house, and germlines are selected using literature-backed developability and pairing data, with liability filtering built into the design from the outset rather than addressed downstream.
The library launch follows Mosaic’s recent preferred partnership with Abkyu, a Boston-based in vivo VHH discovery specialist, giving Mosaic clients access to both in vitro and in vivo single-domain discovery routes under one program.
Tessaic Nano is available now. Mosaic will be introducing the library at upcoming industry events, including Festival of Biologics Basel (October 13–15) and PEGS Europe (November 16–19).
