Indiana-based B & C Industrial Products introduces industrial casters with 1/4-inch steel toe guards cast into the frame for forklift environments.
GARRETT, IN, UNITED STATES, October 1, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — B & C Industrial Products, Inc. has introduced a new line of industrial casters featuring toe guards cast directly into the caster frame instead of supplied as separate bolt-on accessories. The line is available now through B & C Industrial Products and ships from the company’s warehouse in northeast Indiana.
Foot-Level Safety Around Mobile Equipment
The broader cost and frequency of workplace injuries continue to shape how industrial facilities approach equipment and material handling. According to the National Safety Council, U.S. workplaces recorded an estimated 3.95 million medically consulted work injuries in 2024, at a total cost of $181.4 billion. The average cost per medically consulted work injury was $48,000.
Casters are used beneath carts, racks, tooling stands, work platforms and other mobile equipment that can move through areas shared by workers on foot. At that level, caster wheels operate close to workers’ feet as equipment is moved, positioned or repositioned within a facility. Toe guards are steel barriers positioned ahead of caster wheels to help keep a foot from passing underneath the wheel. They are commonly used on carts, racks, tooling stands and other mobile equipment operated in areas where employees work on foot.
Toe Guard Construction for Forklift Environments
In facilities where forklifts move carts and work platforms, the forks can slide underneath the equipment and contact the toe guard. Bolt-on guards are commonly made from 1/8-inch steel, which can dent or bend when struck by forklift forks.
B & C Industrial Products uses 1/4-inch steel for the toe guard in this caster line. The guard is cast into the caster frame during manufacturing, with the clearance between the guard and wheel established at the factory. There is no separate guard component to install or position during caster assembly. The heavier gauge is for resisting impact from forklift forks; it does not change the caster’s load rating.
The guard is also included under the caster’s part number. This means the caster and its toe guard are specified together, instead of requiring a separate guard to be selected for the caster being used. For facilities managing multiple caster configurations, this provides a single product specification for replacement and ordering.
“In many facilities, toe guards are treated as accessories that have to be selected and matched to a specific caster,” said Brian Hansen of B & C Industrial Products. “With the guard incorporated into the caster frame, its position is established during manufacturing and stays with the caster as one specified assembly. That simplifies replacement and makes it easier to identify the correct configuration.”
Caster Configurations and Specifications
The new caster line includes 4-inch, 5-inch, 6-inch and 8-inch wheel sizes in both kingpinless swivel and rigid configurations. The kingpinless swivel models turn on a machined raceway rather than a central kingpin. All frames are zinc plated with 1/4-inch steel forks, and the toe guard is cast into the frame on every model.
Load capacity is determined by the caster itself, based on wheel size, wheel material and frame construction. The toe guard is a safety feature and carries no load rating of its own. Caster capacities by wheel size:
• 4-inch models: 900 to 1,100 pounds
• 5-inch models: 900 to 1,300 pounds
• 6-inch models: 1,000 to 1,500 pounds
• 8-inch models: 1,200 to 2,000 pounds
Wheel materials include polyurethane, semi-steel and nylon. The Kineti-Glide Duo dual-wheel model is available in a 6-inch by 2-inch size with a 1,500-pound caster capacity. Both swivel and rigid configurations are available across the line.
